Selena
She broke through the barriers of the world of music in her roles as a performer, singer as well as a designer. She was both contemporary and traditional a Mexican-American performer who merged both worlds in a singular way--and provided excellent Tejano music to a mass crowd. Her sudden passing that destroyed her profile. That's what happens to a lot of stars who die too young. Since then, her fans have been working harder in an effort to not forget what she's accomplished. Her tragic death in a shooting triggered a response in the Latino Community that was comparable with the reactions to the death of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. She was an incredibly well-known singer for Latinos across North America. But her music touched both the young and the old. Selena has been called by certain people as an Latina Madonna, but she's still a fantastic example to follow. Selena's family values off stage and her participation in AIDS awareness programs provide a great example.
