Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's first female artist on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. On the 21st of October, 2016 she dropped Pho, her first EP for the label Dreamville Records. This was when she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012 with her release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014 she continued to upload her music via the internet, including her self released single Bound. The track Sweat it is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21, 2015. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's references. Then, later in the season, the music circulated all over Dreamville. On December 8 it was confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. On October 21 2016 she released her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, Ari Lennox performed on two tracks featuring EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, and Bas, on Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. The second single she released was Grampa on November 9. Two more singles were released by her on November 13 Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. The track was released as a standalone single in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. The music video premiered on 20 February 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within the first period of a week, the video had more than 3 million views. As a support act She toured in concert with 6LACK during December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
